Getting your car ready for spring is vital to preparing for the warmer months. There are several items that should make it on your to-do list, which can get your vehicle ready for the summer. Anything from oil changes to other preventive maintenance tasks should be a top priority, and below are some of the highlights.

The first order of business is getting your oil changed. This is something that should be done at least once every 3,000 miles for the sake of your engine. Clean motor oil is healthy for your engine in that it cools it down while lubricating all of its individual parts. Plus, when it comes to the removal of grime and environmental toxins, nothing does it like a fresh batch, along with a brand new filter.

Wintertime wear and tear makes an impact on your battery and can cause problems of its own. During the winter months, your battery typically works extra hard just to keep your vehicle going. Cold weather can slow down the normal chemical reactions of your battery, which is why getting it tested is a good idea. If anything, your battery fluids are subjected to evaporation during the hottest part of the season, and that warrants the possibility of corrosion. In some cases, a new battery might become necessary.

Checking your tires is also a good part of springtime maintenance. Tire tread can wear down over time, and even the slightest change in temperature will have an effect on the amount of psi in your tires in that they can lose up to 1 psi. In this case, all you need is to have the air-filled.

Wiper blades should be checked, along with your headlights. The heavy impact of ice and snow can cause cracks and tears in your wiper blades. In this case, getting them replaced will do. Cleaning your headlights and getting the bulbs checked are other issues to consider.

A safety check, along with an AC inspection, are other things to consider for the spring. When getting your vehicle ready, it's best to consult a mechanic. Just bring your vehicle into our auto repair shop today!

Filters are easy to forget because they do their work quietly. You do not see them cleaning the air, fuel, or oil while you drive. You only notice them when the car starts smelling musty, losing power, using more fuel, or acting like it has not been serviced in too long.

Pennsylvania state inspections and emissions testing can feel stressful when you are not sure what the shop is looking for. Your car might drive fine around town, start every morning, and still have a problem that keeps it from passing. That is what catches many drivers off guard.

A cold A/C vent feels simple when everything is working. You press a button, set the temperature, and expect cool air to show up. Behind that, the system is moving heat out of the cabin instead of creating cold air from nothing.
